The Problem We Solve
The significant challenge facing renewable energy development, specifically solar PV energy, is not the technology, but the unpredictable capital investment, lack of uniformity in project design, and the need for large-scale facilities to harness adequate revenue. Projects are typically developed individually, site-by-site, with few economies of scale, high transaction costs, and very irregular financial performance metrics. Without uniformity, costs cannot be contained and revenues cannot be predictably aggregated across multiple sites. Significant risks exist for investors and lenders when one site or project fails. For solar energy to be broadly financed and adopted, initial developmental costs must decrease relative to revenue, and revenue must be consistent from project to project with very little variability so that installations can be aggregated and financed and operated collectively.
